Castanet – South Okanagan wineries preparing for an early grape harvest

Wineries located in the warmest regions are ahead of last year, which also was an early year, such as Moon Curser Vineyard on Osoyoos east bench. That winery is seeing veraison two weeks ahead of the usual timelines. “With all the afternoon heat that we’ve been getting recently, we’ve gotten very useful heat this year, which is nothing incredibly hot where the vines shut down […] We’ve gotten rain at the right times,” said Christian Scagnetti, Moon Curser Vineyards winemaker.
