Contraband Syrah - The Hill 2021

This is the first time we've introduced a Syrah with a two year barrel program. Our 2021 Contraband Syrah 'The Hill' is a captivating, multi-layered red wine. With a deep ruby colour, this wine entices with aromas of blackberry, dark chocolate and a touch of licorice. On the palate, this Syrah delivers a dry yet refreshing acidity, while the extended barrel aging delivers a warm textural richness to the full-bodied palate. Bold flavours of allspice, black cherry, accompanied by hints of vanilla (from the premium barrels used) lead to a satisfying finish. The 2021 Contraband Syrah 'The Hill' drinks well now and will continue to evolve in the bottle if cellared through 2031 - 2034. This wine shines particularly bright when paired with dishes like beef stew, duck confit, or Roquefort cheese.
